Yardney Water Management Systems offers acomplete line of Single Media, Multi-Media and Granular Activated Carbon filtration systems for industrial and commercial uses. Yardney filters have been used across a broad spectrum of industries to meet varied water quality standards where contamination removal and/or reduction is required.
The standard Yardney product line includes three types of automatic backwashing filters. These three distinctly different types of backwashing media filters include the technologies of Sand Media filtration, Multi-Media filtration and Granular Activated Carbon filtration. Other media selections are available for special applications such as Organic clays, Greensand, Zeolites, etc. Through the proper selection of the Yardney filter best suited for your specific application, contamination can be removed to meet your specific water quality needs.
Yardney high rate automatic backwashing Sand Media filters are designed for stringent general purpose water filtration. These permanent media automatic backwashing filters will remove organic and/or inorganic suspended solids down to 15 microns in size. Through the use of automatically controlled backwashing, the filter will operate "on-line" for extended periods of time prior to the short backwashing cycle. Automatic filter operation is monitored on both elapsed time as well as pressure differential. When the controller "calls" for a backwash as a result of pressure differential or elapsed time, the backwashing function utilizes an portion of the clean filtered water produced by the system to clean the media. Single tank systems utilize unfiltered water for backwashing. Optional external backwash water sourcing systems are available for both single and multiple tank systems.
Yardney Multi-Media filters are ideally suited for use where stringent water quality standards exist or where higher levels of suspended solids are present. These applications can include water re-use applications, water pre-treatment applications (for reverse osmosis, deionized water pre-GAC systems, etc.) or as a pre-treatment system prior to disposal bag or cartridge filters. Yardney multi-media filters are also widely used as primary filters for removal of suspended solids in incoming plant water, drinking water, or wastewater clean up applications.
Yardney Multi-Media filters have a great capacity to hold significant amounts of contamination between back-flushes. The Yardney Multi-Media filter design also has the ability to remove high percentages of 5 micron and smaller in size particles without chemical amendment. Performance can be further enhanced with chemical amendment if required.

Yardney Granular Activated Carbon Filtration systems utilize the principles of adsorption for the removal of compounds too small for removal with multi-media technology. These automatic systems are extremely effective in removing chlorine and chlorine related compounds, organic chemicals, tastes and odors, halogenated organic compounds and other highly dispersed contaminates. These products are commonly applied in environmental clean up applications and where man made contaminants are the objective of removal.
The use of Granular Activated Carbon in removing these substances from water streams is extremely successful through the adsorption properties of granular activated carbon media. With the activated carbon's strong affinity for impurity adsorption, water being processed with activated carbon should be pre-filtered utilizing sand media or multi-media filtration prior to contact with the carbon media to expand the useful life of the carbon. |
